Increasing Election Fever
The agreement with the Federal Socialist Party, which was protesting due to its dissatisfaction with the parties assisting the government, namely UCPN (M), Nepali Congress, UML, and United Democratic Madhesi Forum, and the government itself, created additional favourable atmosphere for the election. This represented the end of the challenge faced by the government and the political parties in Madhes related to the election. The main political parties shifted into higher gears after the Election Commission published the election timetable. They focus rigorously on internal preparation. However, the attempts at agreement with the disaffected CPN (M)-led 33-party alliance were futile. Though overall atmosphere was favourable for the election, it did not create confidence about the November election after the failure to reach an agreement with the 33-party alliance.
