The youth camp was organized by Change Fusion at Pakhribas Agriculture Center, Dhankuta on 28-30 July, 2011. The total numbers of participants was 27 and the program was jointly facilitated by team of Change Fusion Nepal and ASD Youth Program Officer, Sanju Koirala. Mr. Basanta Thapa was hired as a resource person for providing training on creating innovative ideas and leadership skills.
ASD Youth program organised central level (Kathmandu) and regional level (Janakpur, Dolakha, Pokhara and Surkhet) debate training followed by competition between April and June 2011. Total of 200 students (100 regional and 100 central) from different schools and colleges were trained. National level debate competition was held in Kathmandu between the district level winners. Final competition was held in Kathmandu and Team Dolakha won the title. The motion of the debate was on issues related to migration.
ASD held a follow up discussion program on Higher Secondary Education in Syangja district on June 9, 2011. Previous programs were held in Dang and Kailali districts. Dr. Binay Kushiyat presented his paper on +2 Education and its policies, which was followed by discussions on the on going debate on changes of policies related to Higher Secondary Education and disparities relating to it around the country.
Higher Secondary School Teachers; School Management Committee members; Headteachers; and Education officials participated in the discussions along with ASD board members.
ASD organized 2 discussion programs on "Enhancing Quality Education in Schools" in Janakpur, Dhanusha and Malangwa, Sarlahi with school teachers and headteachers from around the districts. Retired teachers group took the initiative to start this discussion on improving quality in their schools.
ASD in coordination with Shishak Magazine organized a discussion program on the situation of Vocational Education in public schools and challenges related to it. A paper was presented on the situation of vocational education which was followed by discussions from stakeholders.
